In my 2nd year of Ph.D. in Computer Science at University of California, Riverside. Currently, I am working with SOCAL research group under the supervision of Professor Daniel Wong. I work on systems optimization through tracing various system calls in the kernel using eBPF. My research focuses on enhancing system performance by leveraging advanced tracing and monitoring techniques.

On Feature Selection Algorithms for an Effective Botnet Detection

Other Authors: Meher Afroz, Ashikur Rahman, Jakia Sultana, Raqeebir Rab
Co-Author
The primary focus of the work is to compare 5 different heuristics for feature selection algorithm for an effective botnet detection. We extracted 15 features from ISCX botnet dataset using Wireshark. We also presented a comparative analysis on the algorithms based on their detection rate and false alarm rate. We further calculated the time complexities of all the heuristics. The best one resulted in around 90% detection rate.
